 Dream Day - Edinburgh - 29 February 2020

About this Event

Youth Scotland is delighted to invite you to our Dream Day.

Date: Saturday 29th February 2020

Time: 10.30am to 4pm

Venue: Summerhall, 1 Summerhall, Edinburgh EH9 1PL

The Dream Day is a Youth Scotland event organised for young people aged 12+. Dream Days are happening across the UK and are designed to inspire and get young people thinking about their hopes and ambitions for the future.

All participants will receive a £10 Vue Cinema Voucher. Some help with travel costs is available - speak to your youth worker about this.

You will have a wide choice of workshops to take part in on the day as well as the opportunity to take part in a variety of drop-in activities and entertainment. Lunch will be provided on the day.

Please note this event is aimed for young people aged 12+.

Young people aged 14+ can self-book onto this event. Young people aged under 14, must be accompanied by a youth worker.

You will be sent a consent form and this will need to be filled out and sent in to us prior to the event. If you are under 16 years of age, your parent or guardian will also be required to sign your consent form.

3pm - 4pm Dream Day Plenary – performances and fun challenges

Please choose TWO workshops you would to attend and then please choose TWO BACK UP workshops, your choices are:

Telling a Social Story -. Learn about digital storytelling and interview technique, and how to apply what you've learned to tell the "Social Story" of yourself, your project or your big idea. Learn simple techniques for shooting great quality video with the devices in your pocket, how to make an impact and create an amazing story.

Games and Team Building – This fun, interactive workshop will build your skills with an array of fun, energising and practical games and challenges. We will explore ways build your confidence and communication through participating in a range of practical and fun activities Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear you are able to move around in and bring a water bottle.

Feel Good - This fun session will help you to think about yourself and your future positively. We will explore emotions, try out some fun positive coping techniques and learn how to make decisions.

Super Science Experiments and Activities (STEM Activities) - Do you want to make a rocket out of a balloon, power a light with a lemon or build a newspaper den? Come and learn how you could become the next Einstein and try out some fun science activities from Youth Scotland’s STEM toolkit. Be inspired by STEM as a hobby, an enterprise or a career.

Splash Art Workshop - Explore the different ways you can use art to tell stories and express your dreams. A fun hands- on workshop.

Cost of Event - FREE

Closing date for bookings: Friday 28 February 2020. Please note bookings must include names and basic details of young people and their workshop choices by this date. Book early to ensure that you get the workshop choices you want! Consent forms will be sent out by return of your booking.

The Dream Day is part of Dream It Real, a project being delivered in Scotland by Youth Scotland with the support of Coach Foundation and UK Youth.
